Garden maintenance in Nunawading

Nunawading is a comfortable mid-week run for JJ. The gardens here are mostly mid-sized suburban blocks with a front lawn, a side path that needs the line trimmer, and a backyard that has either been well-kept for decades or has had a recent rejuvenation. The work splits roughly evenly between regular mowing and hedge work.

A defining feature of Nunawading is the sheer volume of mature hedging — photinia, lilly pilly, conifer and box are everywhere. Most of these were planted in the 1990s and 2000s and are now properly mature. JJ runs a twice-a-year hedge schedule through Nunawading: the big spring trim, then a tidy in autumn. Where hedges are getting woolly or bare-bottomed, a renovation prune in winter usually brings them back inside two seasons.

For mowing-only clients, the most common pattern in Nunawading is fortnightly through summer and monthly through winter. Lawns here are mostly couch and kikuyu, which both run hard in summer and benefit from a slightly higher cut height during the hottest weeks. JJ adjusts the deck height accordingly so you do not get a brown lawn in February.
